It seems that no matter how healthy you eat or how much you workout those little dimples aren’t going anywhere. And the truth is, they probably aren’t going anywhere. At least, not without a little extra help. What kind of help you say?! Let’s take a closer look at some of the many cellulite reduction options on the market.
Anti-cellulite creams can stimulate blood flow to the area, temporarily plumping the cell and temporarily making the skin appear smoother. They are a great quick fix and usually is harmless but it’s not scientifically possible that creams will make an impact in getting rid of cellulite.
A lipomassage is a handheld machine that firmly massages, suctions and kneads the patient’s skin. This technique increases circulation and stimulates lymphatic drainage which helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. But it doesn’t get rid of cellulite. It is nonsurgical, comfortable treatment but requires multiple sessions. Generally you will need more than one treatment to get the results you want and the results are not long-lasting. Multiple treatments are required for sustained results.
A thin hollow tube (cannula) is inserted into a small incision made in the skin. The cannula is connected to suction and as it moves back and forth it sucks the fat out of your body. While it does remove excess fat, it should not be used for cellulite reduction as it can make dimpling more obvious.
Laser Therapy (Cellulaze™)
Laser treatments are the right choice for severe cellulite. A tiny laser fiber is inserted beneath the skin. Energy from the laser causes the fibrous bands that cause cellulite to break apart while heat from the laser melts the lumpy pockets of fat. Cellulaze™ is shown to be effective in cellulite reduction and is an invasive procedure.
Radio Frequency Therapy
Radio frequency is applied to the surface of the skin which produces uniform heat under the surface of the skin. The mechanism boosts collagen production and breaks down fat cells, allowing saggy skin to tighten and smooth out cellulite. It’s noninvasive, comfortable, has no downtime and is safe for all skin tones. It’s very effective for mild to moderate cellulite. Maintenance treatments are suggested to keep the skin tight.
